Futurism - DSB, 2020

I explore the dark relationship between Futurism and the rise of Fascism in Italy. I used everyday objects as my “symbols of invention,” photographing and editing them in a way that is both intimidating and glorifying. The satire lies in the choice of objects themselves: scissors, a lighter, and keys are overlooked examples of modernity, unlike spaceships and other inventions that Futurists glorified through repetition, shape, color, and collage. These objects also function as potential weapons, further connecting them to the dark, monumental qualities of Fascist propaganda and the art produced by Futurists during this period.

The images were ultimately used to create laser-cut acrylic earrings, returning these “symbols of invention” to simple, everyday objects.

Taken during the 2nd year presentation, the photos document the fashion student showcase. The styling incorporated peices from every student’s creations that year.

‘In the Safety of Darkness’ - BFA Exchange with HEAD-Geneva - DSB, 2019

This series focuses on the nature of people’s perception of being observed. In a nightclub, people are aware of other’s eyes while also protected and freed by the darkness, only illuminated by quick flashes of lights which reveal a poetic moment of lowered inhibitions.

Bubble Wrap Jacket - BFA Exchange with HEAD-Geneva - Group Work, 2018

Our team designed and fabricated a jacket out of bubble wrap. Following the photos, I filmed and edited the video of the destruction of the jacket using a heat gun.

‘The Book of Grief’ - DSB, 2016

Instructed to create a unique guided experience, I chose to focus on cemeteries as Paris is just as famous for its living and nonliving residents. The tour guide booklet I created is called ‘The Book of Grief’ and presents the different types of grievers you can find in the cemetery.
